چکیده
Case 1.?Airs. T., aged 22. was suffering from a very severe attack of phlegmasia alba dolens (white leg) for about three weeks, when I was called to sec her. The whole leg from the foot to the groin was very much swollen and double the circumference of the"healthy leg, extremely painful and pitted on pressure. I at once gave her 1 c.c. of tinct. iodine intravenously, and advised frequent boric fomentations. Fever 101?, which was already present, rose to 102? F. after about three hours without any rigors. No other inconvenience was felt. the next day one-third of the swelling had subsided and the leg was much less painful. The swelling went on decreasing until on the fourth day when only half the swelling remained. and another injection of 2 c.c. was given. This time there was a very good reaction after an hour. The temperature, which was normal before injection, rose to 104? with severe rigors, lasting for two hours. Within a week after this injection, the whole swelling had practically disappeared and no pnin was felt at all.

A Complete Resolution of Sialadenitis Induced by Iodine Containing Contrast with Intravenous Dexamethasone Infusion
Salivary gland enlargement following the administration of iodine is an extremely rare event, and the pathophysiology of iodine-induced sialadenitis is not yet fully known. The onset of symptoms can start within a few minutes to five days after contrast administration. The course of iodine-induced sialadenitis is extremely benign, and rapid resolution of symptoms is expected without treatment. ...

Dose; 1 to 2 c.c. diluted with 8 c.c. of distilled water. Each c.c. of the above solution contains one grain of iodine. As a rule injections need not be given on alternate days; once a week is usually sufficient. I have tried these injections with admirable results in cases of pneumonia, pleurisy, cellulitis, septic wounds, chronic bronchitis, carbuncle and rheumatism, and my notes on " The Tre...
متن کاملThe Effect of Iodine by Mouth on the Reaction to Intravenous Injections of Thyroxin.
Repeated observations within recent years have shown that the oral administration of iodine will usually be followed by a striking reduction in the basal metabolism in patients with exophthalmic goiter. A histologic study of the thyroid glands which have been removed from these patients gives evidence that definite involutional changes follow the use of iodine which indicate an anatomic regress...
متن کاملIntravenous Iodine in Pulmonary Disease
By V. J. LOPEZ, Medical Officer, Alipuram Jail, Bellary. As there are at present a number of adyoca es of intravenous iodine therapy, perhaps the tol owing summary of a few cases treated by me the Alipuram Central Jail from April 19 the end of July 1925, may be of interest particularly so in view of Colonel Jeudwines experience with this method of treatment. I have been using iodine intravenous...
متن کاملA Study of the Distribution of Iodine between Cells and Colloid in the Thyroid Gland. Iv. the Distribution of Iodine in the Hyperplastic Thy- Roid Gland of the Dog after the Intravenous Injection of Iodine Compounds. by Harry Benjamin
Some years ago Marine and Feiss (1) and Marine and Rogoff (2, 3) first performed experiments which leave little doubt as to the ability of the dog’s thyroid gland, especially when hyperplastic, to bind iodine almost instantaneously. Marine and Feiss (1) carefully perfused the surviving thyroid gland with fluid containing iodine as KI. They found that after 1 hour a considerable amount of iodine...
